Welcome to the MyBB Development Blog, the place where from now on we’ll primarily be talking about what is going on behind the scenes at the MyBB Group as well as taking a look at upcoming features in new releases.

We hope to keep the blog fairly active and we’ve got quite a few posts planned already:

    A series of posts which will contain a full overview of the MyBB 1.4 Admin CP including many screenshots, feature overviews and our design and technical decisions.

    A few tips and tricks for getting the most out of the MyBB Plugin System.
  • Regular MyBB Tips and Tricks
    Ranging from security related tips and tricks right through to uncovering some of the more hidden features and customising your copy of MyBB.
  • Behind the Scenes
    A look at how things happen behind the scenes with MyBB, including our development process.

I hope you’re looking forward to being able to discuss some of the things above with us on this blog, as we’re very much interested in your feedback for a lot of the above to help improve MyBB in the future. Stay tuned for another post shortly.

  9. Yes, we’re all waiting for 1.4 and this post shows us that we should wait long long time again for 1.4. We know developing a software such as MyBB very difficult but as the time goes users wait much better features and greatest software from you. Think this please.

    Or maybe how 1.4 was suppose to be out in 07?

    I don’t know.. Sorry but it’s what most of us members are getting from the MyBB team..

Oh, now you guys won’t approve my post so other members don’t get that impression, but I would appreciated that you did accept my comment, and to please answer it since I’m sure 90% of the MyBB users are wondering AND doubting the dedication. I know I’m mentioning like all the bad things, and trust me, I also look at the good sides. MyBB is a great Forum software. Well developed, and it has amazing features, but it seems the dedication is not the forte in this system. MyBB is becoming a phenomenal Forum software, but 3 developers is not enough for it. An example would be the release of MyBB 1.4. It was “predicted” to come out August, and um it’s February…? 7 months delayed immediately gives a BAD impression. And you might answer me back by saying “We need time to beta test and fix all the bugs, would you rather have a crappy system?” I know it, and I’ve seen it before, yet I understand the argument, but it doesn’t answer the not-so-good dedication given and the SEVEN month delay. So please I hope you take this as an inspiration, and not as an insult because it’s intention is not to attack the MyBB team, but rather to help it.

    All comments are moderated before they’re posted – yours were posted within 10 minutes of each other and no one was around to moderate them. From now on though, comments by your email address won’t need moderation.

    We have nothing to hide.

    There will be an update regarding why MyBB 1.4 has been delayed shortly as well.

    As for articles – we’re just about to publish one, but we can’t publish an update everyday – and it’s only been three days!

  23. Thanks! So we get information about the development. Do we get information about the changes in code, functions, plugins, … between 1.2 and 1.4, too?

  26. So far MyBB 1.4 looks awesome! Amazing work guys! AND it’s free. That’s kickin’!

    However, by you giving us this preview, I think this means one of two things..

    A.) MyBB has been delayed, and you’re giving us this preview to “hold us over”

    B.) MyBB will have an RC candidate out in a week or two, but we won’t be able to access Admin CP, so you’re showing this to us so we know what to expect.

    C.) Something else πŸ˜›
